Toyota has launched two higher-spec versions of its Corolla sedan/saloon in Taiwan, called Altis GR Sport and Altis GR Sport Hybrid. Both feature new 17-inch wheels, larger grille, glossy-black front splitter and deflectors, rear diffuser, darkened brake lights and special badges.
The main technical novelty comes in the shape of GR Sport suspension that introduces special anti-roll bars and stiffer springs. The drivetrains stay stock, however, which in the case of the Altis GR Sport means a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine rated at 140 hp (104 kW) and 172 Nm (127 lb-ft) of torque, linked to a CVT box. In turn, the GR Sport Hybrid gets to keep its 122-hp (91-kW) part-electric powertrain.
Things liven up a bit inside the car, where red and black leather adorns the seats along with red stitching. There are GR emblems on the headrests and a paddle shifter under the wheel (GR Sport only).
The spec includes seven airbags, Toyota Safety Sense, plenty of electronic driver aids, and LED headlights.
