Elderly GR Yaris-swapped Toyota Corolla Levin heading to the 2022 Tokyo show

Japanese tuner Daddy Motor Works is busy doing something special now: this venerable AE86 Toyota Corolla Levin is slowly becoming a drift racer built with parts from half a dozen other cars.

According to Dino Dalle Carbonare of the Speedhunters Magazine, the compact ride will utilize the three-cylinder powertrain of the modern GR Yaris, which normally produces 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission will be taken from a Toyota GT86, the gearbox will probably be sequential, an Altezza differential will help manage traction and torque, and an S110 Crown will provide the rear end. A Link Fury X external ECU will manage the setup.

It remains to be seen how fast the drift car will be with its new power mill, but we are optimistic in this regard. The original hot hatch is quite agile as is, and the Levin weighs in at approximately 500 lbs (227 kg) less.

The finished car may make an appearance at the next year’s Tokyo Auto Salon if all goes according to plan.
