Toyota GR Corolla may go auto if drivers want it, GR boss says

The Toyota GR Corolla is a driver-focused hot hatchback, and apparently some of these drivers don’t care much for manual transmission.

In its current form, the car is only obtainable with the stick shift, but it may change soon. According to GR boss Tomoya Takahashi, the company is monitoring the interests of its clients and may start shipping the hot Corolla with two pedals instead of three if there is enough demand.

The news is far from surprising, because the company’s younger hot hatch – the GR Yaris – is already rocking an Aisin AT. It also shares the engine with the GR Corolla, so adding automatic as an option for the latter should be neither too difficult nor expensive.
