Toyota reveals a 2019 Corolla Hybrid

The Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota Motor Corporation has announced the forthcoming release of Toyota Corolla with the hybrid powertrain. The vehicle enjoyed its first public appearance at the Beijing Automotive Exhibition and should enter the market in 2019.

Being a plug-in hybrid, the new Toyota Corolla supports charging from a normal wall socket and can cover around 50 km (30 mi) on a single charge.

In addition to a low-yield electric motor, the hood cover of the updated sedan conceals a standard 1.8-liter gasoline engine. Compared to its non-hybrid counterpart, it sports a set of specially designed wheels and a prominent charging port.

Toyota will proceed with the assembly of the Corolla Hybrid in its China works next year. That is also where the brand-new, all-electric Toyota CH-R SUV will be produced starting in 2020.
