According to multiple Japanese news media, Toyota once again considers enlisting the help of Mazda to produce the RWD chassis for the new Mark X and Crown sedans.
Sources claim that Mazda will also handle the development of a new inline-six gasoline engine and even a brand-new diesel engine model compatible with both cars.
The Toyota Mark X (previously known as the Mark II) has been around on the Japanese market for 51 years and only went out of production in 2019. A total of 11 generations came out, selling 6,500,000+ units.
The Toyota Crown is still available, despite going through its 15th generation revealed less than two years ago.
