Toyota began expanding its ‘sportier’ GR lineup in the fall of 2017 and has since upgraded nearly every production car with that version, ranging from the compact Yaris to the huge Land Cruiser – and the Fortuner joins the list now.
Compared to the regular SUV depicted in the video, the newcomer boasts a new body kit, bi-color 18-inch alloy wheels, a redesigned radiator grille, side decals, and a special edition badge on the tailgate.
Interior highlights include leather upholstery, power-adjusted front seats, wireless gadget charging, an extra multimedia display for second row occupants, and a 9-inch main touchscreen that can display the video feed coming from an all-around camera view system.
Also included in the specification are hill climb assist, trailer assist, and a power tailgate that automatically swings open when you make a kicking move in its general direction.
The car will originally only be able in Indonesia, where customers will get the same engine and transmission options as usual. These include a 2.7-liter gasoline engine rated at 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) and 247 Nm (182 lb-ft) of torque and a 2.4-liter turbo diesel worth 149 PS (147 hp / 110 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). In both cases, six-speed automatic transmission carries the momentum to the rear wheels.
