Meet the Scalar SC1, a Toyota GR86 EV racecar built for SEMA (and you)

Since the establishment of the Gazoo Racing motorsports division, Toyota has slapped the GR badge on quite a few cars available in many countries across the world. Most were just slightly sported-up production cars, but some others, like the GR Supra, GR Corolla, GR Yaris and GR 86, were redesigned from the ground up. And if you were dreaming about an electric GR, Scalar Performance has one going with the SC1.

Per the tuning company, the Scalar SC1 is the world’s first all-electric amateur racing car based on the GR86 chassis. Aside from having a redesigned body and new badging all around, it ditches its 2.4-liter IC engine in favor of a single rear-mounted electric motor. The output amounts to 333 PS (328 hp / 245 kW) and 486 Nm (358 lb-ft) of torque. A 65-kWh Hypercraft battery pack delivers enough juice for 45 minutes of fast-paced track driving, and recharging it reportedly takes less than 20 minutes.

The SC1 is no slouch, either, sprinting from standstill to 97 km/h (60 mph) in 3.9 seconds and maxing out at 267 km/h (166 mph).

Scalar Performance, which is currently exhibiting its inventory at the SEMA show in Las-Vegas, is already taking orders for similar conversions.
