The Tokyo Auto Salon opening the day after tomorrow will play host to six special cars built by Japanese tuner Varis, including a Toyota GR 86, a GR Yaris, a Honda Civic Type R, a Nissan Z, a Mitsubishi Evo and a Subaru WRX.
Starting with the Toyota GR 86, it gets a full body kit made from lightweight carbon, a new hood and a particularly tall rear wing. 18-inch Advan Racing R6 wheels fill out the arches, and the engine gets a mechanical supercharger.
In turn, the latest Civic Type R makes do several new aerodynamic parts and 19-inch Volk Racing wheels. Apparently, Varis hasn’t had enough time to work on the still-relatively-new car, so more accessories can be expected to follow in the coming months.
As for the Nissan Z, it gets a rather restrained-looking body kit comprising mildly widened wheel arches, side skirts and a front splitter. A trunk-mounted ducktail spoiler and a new hood cover will be optional. The list goes on to mention Recaro seats, KW coilovers and an Armytrix exhaust system.
The Yaris GR gets a body kit and wheels. Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII owners are perhaps the most in luck here, because the tuning company has a truckload of mods to offer them, be it for the body, the interior, the engine, the suspension or something else. We will be taking a closer look at them during the show.
In the meantime, you may want to check out Varis’ lineup from TAS-2022 in the embedded video.
