Toyota GR86 gets updated with better handling, a new special version

The refreshed Toyota GR86 looks almost the same on the outside, but benefits from a number of chassis tweaks that the company claims are based on its expertise in motorsports. It also gets a spin-off called RZ Ridge Green, which will be limited to 200 units and only obtainable via a lottery.

All new GR86 models come equipped with special shock absorbers said to improve road grip. Stability control and power steering have been reworked, too, and the manual version of the coupe benefits from faster throttle response. Its automatic counterpart performs better when shifting down. Tire pressure sensors and LED DRLs are now included as standard.

As for the special edition mentioned above, it comes finished in an exclusive shade called Ridge Green and rides on bronze wheels. The interior makes generous use of grey and black leather and Alcantara. Brembo brakes and Sachs shocks, which are listed as optional for the standard GR86, are included in this spec. Interested customers in Japan will have to enter a lottery to try and win the right to buy one.

Prices for the new Toyota GR86 start from ¥3,195,000, while the RZ Ridge Green begins from ¥3,897,000.
