Toyota has taken the wraps off the fourth generation of its Harrier SUV, revealing a new architecture, higher-quality interior trim, and a sunroof with Smart Glass tech.
The newcomer takes advantage of GA-K, a new platform designed based upon the older TNGA. This makes it technically related to the latest Camry, Highlander, and RAV4. It ships with a choice between two main powertrains. One is a naturally aspirated two-liter engine rated at 171 hp (128 kW) and linked to an IVT box. The other is a mild hybrid system based on a 2.5-liter engine rated at 218 hp (163 kW, FWD only) or 222 hp (165 kW, AWD).
Noteworthy new features include Active Cornering Assist, Toyota Safety Sense, and a panoramic roof that makes use of electrochromic glass (you can make it opaque or transparent whenever you want in a matter of seconds).
Sales in Japan start in June, and the prices remain pending.
