Two years ago, car manufacturer Toyota and U.S. toy truck company Tonka have joined efforts to release the unique Toyota Hilux Tonka, a concept car styled like those black-and-yellow toy trucks. A few days ago, tuner firm Autobot Autoworks Off-Road unveiled a similar project of its own.
The tuner started with a 2018 Toyota Hilux pickup truck, equipping it with auxiliary lights mounted on the front bumper, the windshield, and the roof, a heavy-duty winch in the front, under shields, a vented hood, fender flares, a trailer hook, towing eyes, and a convenient foothold for easy access to the truck bed.
The car now rides 100 millimeters (4 inches) taller courtesy of a Ridemax Offroad suspension lift kit, and sports new 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in off-road tires with beadlock protection. There is also a snorkel for conquering high water, and a full-fledged spare wheel in the truck bed.
The body of the custom Hilux pickup boasts the trademark Tonka colors, and the same black/yellow color scheme is used for the interior, which now houses a sports steering wheel adorned with carbon fiber and Alcantara, among other things.
