Toyota has outfitted its Hilux pickup truck for participation in the next year’s Dakar Rally, a severe endurance marathon that starts on January 3, 2021. Let’s see what it landed with.
On the outside, the purpose-built truck looks little different from the facelifted 2021 Hilux model, including the headlights and the radiator grille. All the major differences are technical: the car has an all-wheel drive and completely independent suspension on each wheel. Most importantly, it uses a naturally aspirated five-liter V8 mated to a sequential transmission.
We will see how the build fares when the rally raid kicks off on January 3.
