The GR Sport edition became available for the Toyota Hilux buyers in Europe in January 2022 and has now been updated heading into the next model year. The biggest emphasis is on the suspension, which is now said to offer improved comfort and handling. Pre-orders will have to wait until early 2024, though.
Using carefully optimized single shocks instead of dual shocks enabled the company to add 20 mm (0.8 inches) of ground clearance at both axles and roughly 150 mm (6 inches) of wheel span (slightly more at the rear). Lighter 17-inch wheels shod in off-road tires and larger brake rotors rounded off the list of upgrades in the undercarriage area.
To reduce drag, the pickup got a different front bumper and a spoiler for the rear part of the cab. The bed received a tonneau cover. New black fender flares, silver moldings and assorted new badges are included in the base spec, and the exposed chassis elements were highlighted with color.
The interior is now black and red with Alcantara inserts in sport seats and a new decorative pattern throughout. The later infotainment system version unlocks OTA updates and online navigation services.
Like before, the truck uses a 2.8-liter diesel rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque in tandem with a six-speed automatic transmission. No changes have been made here.
