U.S.-based car restorer and tuner Icon 4×4 has successfully wrapped up its 159th project, giving an elderly Land Cruiser FJ43 a second chance in exchange for a tidy six-digit sum.
The ‘Old School’ nickname refers to the amount of modern styling, which Icon decided to keep to a minimum. The body looks largely unchanged and still retains both OEM bumpers and a spare wheel cover in the back. These details, as well as the window frames and the soft top, are painted grey and create a compelling contrast against a dark blue body.
The interior comes wrapped in grey vinyl, or rather a particularly soft and wear-resistant variant thereof ordered by the client. Two extra seats occupy the bed, and there is a new dashboard and center console. Rounding off the list is a multimedia system with a nice speaker set.
More crucially, the restomod rocks Dana 60 and 44 axles, Brembo brakes for proper deceleration, and flexibly adjustable suspension. Powering it is a 6.2-liter GM V8 fitted with aluminum injectors. A five-speed manual transmission carries 430 PS (424 hp / 316 kW) and 610 Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque.
Icon 4×4 did not reveal the price, but similar projects usually start from U.S. $200,000.
