The long-awaited Toyota Land Cruiser 300 should finally be revealed on May 31 or June 1, according to various reports. In the meantime, a post cropped up on Instagram with what its author claims is a powertrain list for the new Land Cruiser.
The list consists of two six-cylinder engines. First is a petrol turbo with 3.5 liters of displacement, 409 PS (403 hp / 301 kW) and 650 Nm (478 lb-ft) of torque. It hits its peak torque as early as 2,000 RPM, which is much faster than the current Cruiser does with its naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V8 good for 381 PS (376 hp / 280 kW) and 544 Nm (401 lb-ft).
The other V6 is a diesel rated at 302 PS (298 hp / 222 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). This one maxes out in terms of torque at 1,600 RPM and is also considerably more powerful than the current-generation diesel eight-pot.
Aside from offering more thrust, the new engines should be nature-friendlier and more fuel-efficient to boot, so it’s no wonder the company decided to ditch the old V8 lineup.
