Video: New Toyota Land Cruiser 300 gets its first dyno measurements

Bahrain-based car tuner Ekanoo Racing has spent a while working on a body kit for the latest Toyota Land Cruiser, and has now put the SUV on the dyno to see how well it delivers on the manufacturer-rated power and torque numbers.

The papers specify that the 3.5-liter V6 the off-roader comes with produces 415 PS (409 hp / 305 kW) at the crank along with 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. Actual dyno measurements showed that 370 PS (365 hp / 272 kW) and 534 Nm (394 lb-ft) actually makes it to the wheels, both acceptable numbers given transmission losses. Using an additive helped raise the output by another 7 horsepower (5.2 kW).

The tuner team intends to ramp the power up to 500 PS (493 hp / 368 kW) and then have their LC300 drag-race other SUVs, which is a common form of entertainment in Middle East countries.

Toyota claims the LC300 can sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 6.7 seconds, mere 0.3 seconds behind the much lighter Volkswagen Golf GTI equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-four mill rated at 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW).
