This restored Land Cruiser FJ40 yearns for some overlanding fun

Legacy Overland has put this 50-year-old FJ40-gen Toyota Land Cruiser up for sale in a fully restored and modernized condition without a public price tag.

The restorer was able to keep the exterior classic and recognizable while adding a Warn M800 winch to the front bumper, putting modern wheels with meaty tires on the axles, and replacing headlights with modern halogen lamps. A spare wheel was added at the rear end and hub locks were put on the front wheels.

Things get even more interesting in the tech department. The off-roader now gets its thrust from a 5.7-liter GM V8 working with carburetors and a four-speed manual transmission. New rotor brakes help keep the power in check.

A look inside the cabin reveals a black roll cage, new front seats and a leather steering wheel, as well as two rear benches along the sides in the back. Amenities on board include an AC and a modern audio system.
