Another Toyota Land Cruiser gets iconic SUV treatment from Icon

Icon, a tuning company specializing in costly and extensive restorations of the Toyota Land Cruiser classics, has recently wrapped up work on a 52-year-old FJ40 model that left the premises in a better-than-OEM condition. Let us have a look.

The dated stock engine made room for the popular 6.2-liter LS3 V8 additionally upgraded with truck intakes, new injectors and a custom 5-speed M/T mated to the front wheels. There is still a coupling on the rear axle and a two-speed transfer case for off-roading, so the restomod has all the main use cases covered.

Elsewhere, the FJ40 Cruiser boasts a completely restored body, a cabin lovingly wrapped in multiple kinds of braided vinyl, modern-age suspension and braking, and some nice personal touches. For instance, there is a unique automatic access step for the bed, a high-flow air compressor on board and new heavy-duty axles with all the locking differentials a modern driver needs.

The involved costs are unknown, but Icon generally charges just under $250,000 for such restorations before any options.
