Toyota Land Cruiser Prado goes supercharged in Japan

The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in its 2.7-liter gasoline engine version is quite sluggish: its 163 hp (122 kW) take it from zero to 100 km/h in nearly 14 seconds. Japanese tuner firm Blitz offers a solution to this issue.

The supercharger kit targets all Land Cruiser Prado versions produced since September 2017 and does not necessitate any further modifications of the 2TR-FE engine. The Roots charger raises the power by 35.6 horsepower (26.5 kW) and the peak torque by 54.7 Nm (40.3 lb-ft). As a result, the output rises to 199 hp (149 kW) and 301 Nm (222 lb-ft).

Also included in the package is a special fuel controller that makes ECU modding unnecessary. The tuner recommends only using high-octane gasoline along with NGK iridium candles for ignition, though.

The kit costs 468,000 JPY (4,420 USD) domestically.
