Toyota Land Cruiser Prado expected to debut in summer 2023

Toyota will be unveiling the next iteration of the Land Cruiser Prado in summer next year, BestCarWeb reports citing its own sources. The SUV is expected to stay true to its body-on-frame formula while getting a dose of electrification.

The current generation (see the photos) debuted in the distant year 2009. Despite persistent rumors about a new generation coming soon, it never did, and with the Covid-19 disrupting supply chains worldwide, Toyota was in no position to launch production.

There is a theory that the new Prado will be based on the same architecture as the recently unveiled Land Cruiser 300 (see video). BestCarWeb also supposes that most engines will be limited to four cylinders, including a 2.8-liter diesel. Some of them may end up hybridized for efficiency.
