Toyota has shared another photo of the next-gen Land Cruiser Prado and confirmed that the full reveal was scheduled on next Wednesday, August 2, 2023. The SUV comes packed with references to the Japanese marque’s other iconic models and will drop the ‘Prado’ suffix in some markets.
The teaser pic shows the newcomer standing next to the Land Cruiser FJ62, perhaps to give us an easier time finding parallels between the two. For example, it gets similar-looking rectangular headlights and an impressively sized radiator grille with large ‘Toyota’ lettering in the middle. The front bumper and the sloped hood can also be seen, but the overall silhouette is rather boxy.
In all likelihood, the new Prado comes based on the same platform as the recently unveiled Lexus GX (shown in the rest of the gallery and the video here). The load-bearing frame also appears partially identical to that one. For engines, customers will likely be choosing between a number of four-cylinder options and a hybrid flagship spec rated at 330 PS (325 hp / 243 kW).
