The FAW-Toyota joint enterprise in the Sichuan Province of China has begun churning out Land Cruiser Prado SUVs for the local market, marking the first time the Prado was made outside of Japan.
AutoHome.cn points out that the customers can choose from four trim levels priced from 459,800 Yuan, but there is only one hybrid powertrain on offer.
In particular, you can choose between a retro-themed front end with round headlamps (base trim) and a more modern-looking front with rectangular units (all higher trims). The interior can be optioned with five or six seats.
As for the engine, it is a 2.4-liter turbocharged mill assisted by an electric motor for 330 PS (325 hp / 243 kW) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends the torque to all four wheels via two lockable differentials – interaxle and rear.
