Toyota refreshes its Mirai hydrogen sedan lineup

The 2024 Toyota Mirai for Japan has debuted with improved safety features and a new infotainment system. The fuel cell sedan starts from 7,261,000 Yen and maxes out at 8,610,000 Yen (U.S. $49,000–58,000).

All new cars come equipped with more Safety Sense assists than ever, while the higher trims introduce the features called Teammate and Advanced Park. The former makes driving in slow traffic easier, while the latter auto-parks the car using state-of-the-art technology.

With the generational change three years ago (see video), the Mirai wound up with a new 8-inch digital dashboard. The next model year version further expands it to 12.3 inches; the same goes for the multimedia display in the middle.

The available equipment now includes 64-color ambient lighting, a dashcam and a digital key fob letting drivers start the engine and unlock doors remotely using their phones.

Things stay unchanged in the powertrain department. A 182-PS (180-hp / 136-kW) motor is mounted on the rear axle and is good for 850 km (528 miles) of driving with all three hydrogen tanks full (combined capacity: 141 liters).
