We have gotten used to most large-scale tuning projects being carried out by large groups of people or even multiple companies, but Marty Sweatt is the only person behind this Toyota MR2 restomod with an Audi V8 heart.
Marty began working on the car nearly five years ago. He had a fair bit of mechanical expertise and worked with hot rods, but not quite on this scale. In order to put an eight-cylinder engine under the hood of the tiny MR2, its wheelbase had to be extended by 266 mm (10.5 inches). The engine was taken from an Audi Allroad, where it churned out 345 PS (340 hp / 254 kW).
Feeling like he could use more thrust, Sweatt added a supercharger to the setup and probably managed to exceed 400 horsepower (300 kilowatts), although precise numbers remain to be measured. He fabricated the entire body kit and intake system on his own, without asking a single tuner for help. He also installed new dash gauges and a button-based gear selector in the cabin.
