Toyota has long wanted to resurrect its MR2 mid-engine roadster series – and would like Porsche to join in on the project, Engineering Chief Tetsua Tada said in an interview.
According to him, The German luxury carmaker has vast experience in designing mid-engine sport cars, so the cooperation proposal looks entirely reasonable. That said, none of the companies has come out with an official statement confirming the cooperation yet.
Toyota has carried out similar projects before. For instance, it enlisted the help of Subaru to design the GT86, and worked together with BMW to launch the new Supra.
