The fourth-generation Toyota Prius XW50 (see photos) is nearly six years old, and the preceding generation stayed on the market for six years, so a successor should be coming soon.
Rumors are seeping in that the new Prius will continue to be based on its usual TNGA-C platform, but will land with a much sportier and more aggressive body reminiscent of the 2019 LQ Concept (see video).
The most important thing to consider here is that the Prius is no longer an exotic. There are plenty of hybrid cars on the market right now, and that even includes the Corolla Hybrid. Hence, it stands to reason that Toyota will make sure the fifth generation stands out as much as possible. Maybe it will get a much larger battery or even go all-electric – time will tell.
No official launch timeframe exists so far.
