Toyota’s latest addition to its EV lineup was the sedan-shaped bZ3, which joined the bZ4X SUV. Back then, the company said that another car was coming soon, and today’s teasers show that it is a hybrid.
The full reveal remains scheduled for next Wednesday, November 16. In the meantime, it is clear that the newcomer is either a sedan or a liftback. The caption ‘Hybrid Reborn’ suggests that it could be a new version of an existing part-electric model, most likely the second-generation Prius. The guess makes sense because the current generation (see video) is already seven years old without a successor in sight. The next year seems to be a good time to restart sales with a major update to the model.
As a side note, rumor has it that Toyota plans to add a hydrogen-powered Prius to the lineup in three years’ time. Specifically, the car might get an internal combustion engine burning hydrogen instead of petrol – Toyota has quite a bit of expertise in this regard.
