Gazoo Racing restates its commitment to ICE cars

Soon After Toyota’s announcement that it intends to keep the internal combustion engine alive in its cars, its motorsports division has voiced pretty much the same sentiments.

In his latest communication with the press, Gazoo Racing CEO Tomoya Takahashi said the company was determined to keep using IC engines in performance cars for as long as it possibly could. He emphasized that it wasn’t the engines themselves that harmed nature, but carbon dioxide emissions. Rather than combatting ICE cars, automakers would be better off researching hybrid technologies and adopting eco-friendly fuels.

At the same time, Takahashi admitted that Gazoo Racing no longer aimed at producing some of the fastest cars around. Instead, the division has recently shifted its focus towards maximizing pure driving enjoyment.
