We here at FormaCar are trying to bring you news from all over the world, but some vehicles are bound to slip from our grasp. One such is the Toyota Probox, a van that’s allegedly been available in Japan since 2002 and will be getting a new version called GX on January, 6. Ever heard of it?
Apparently, the van occupies the ‘semi-commercial’ niche of the market, starting from the equivalent of $13,000 USD. A look inside the cabin takes you back to the 1980s. The dashboard is basically one big odometer with a small digital display underneath. The front panel is rather simplistic: there is a phone holder next to the steering wheel, but no infotainment in the modern sense of the word. There is, however, a roomy glove compartment and many other storage opportunities.
The Probox GX is coming to the market with a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 94 PS (93 hp / 69 kW), a 1.5-liter mill capable of 107 PS (106 hp / 79 kW), and a hybrid powertrain with so far undisclosed specifications.
