Toyota RAV4 goes off the trail in TRD Off-Road version

At the recently started motor show in Chicago, Toyota has revealed a special version of its RAV4 crossover. Called TRD Off-Road, it has been created with the assistance from Toyota Racing Department.

The car sports sturdy roof railings, a new radiator grille, bold bumpers and wheel arch protectors. The new reinforced chassis, strong shock absorbers and springs should contribute quite a bit to its all-terrain capabilities. Reportedly, the developer team tapped on the experience gained when building the RAV4 Rally version.

Other notable features of the new Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road include lightweight 18” alloys, LED-based foglights, Hill Assist, and a 4WD system with torque vectoring.

The hood compartment of the vehicle conceals a 2.5-liter engine churning out 206 hp (154 kW) in conjunction with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The passenger space is predominantly black with occasional red highlights. The seats use SofTex for trimming, an artificial material that’s much more durable than leather.

The car will hit the showrooms all across the United States in the fall of 2019.
