There were quite a few surprising premieres at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, and this off-roader called ‘Raptor’ certainly qualifies as one. It is a fourth-gen RAV4 with no Ford relation, but modded by a company named Raptor.
The grainy dark grey paint doesn’t just look badass but also offers improved protection against rust and scratches – or so the company claims. Aside from the body, the same paint covers the bumpers, the fenders, the side mirror caps and some other elements.
The off-roader wears velociraptor-inspired graphics on the sides and rides on stylish KMC wheels wrapped in Monsta Mud Warrior tires. It also rides around 50 mm (2 inches) taller than normal. Things stay stock under the hood, where a 2.0-liter four-pot toils producing 171 PS (169 hp / 126 kW) and 203 Nm (150 lb-ft) of torque.
The tuner does not export cars from Japan, but you could probably order a can or two of its protective paint.
