JATO Dynamics has put names on the most demanded models of the year 2022. Despite a 10-percent fall in demand, the Toyota RAV4 headed the rating with 1,016,000 examples sold worldwide.
The second place was taken by the Toyota Corolla (~992,000 units), while the Tesla Model Y sold 747,000 units with a remarkable year-on-year growth of 91%. That said, the Toyota Corolla Cross tried even harder with a YoY growth of 221% and landed on the eighth position with 530,000 units sold.
Trailing the list are such names as Honda CR-V, Toyota Camry, Toyota Hilux, Nissan Sentra, Ford F-150, and Tesla Model 3. U.S. sales carried the day for Ford, which sold 97% of its F-150 trucks on the domestic market.
According to the data collected by the experts, a total of 79.4 million new cars found buyers in 2022 – 2% less than the year before. Developing economies like India were only partially able to compensate for the decline on the markets of the United States, Europe and China.
A distinct surge of interest towards electric cars was another clearly outlined trend: EV makers have sold a total of 2.9 million units, demonstrating a YoY growth of 66%.
