Next-gen Toyota Sequoia Hybrid bows in the USA

Shortly after announcing the next generation of its full-size SUV Sequoia, Toyota has officially revealed its trim levels and specifications for the United States.

With the old Land Cruiser retiring in North America, the Sequoia becomes the new flagship on that market. Deliveries are set to begin in summer. The model comes based on the same platform as the Tundra pickup and uses a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 assisted by an electric motor for 443 PS (437 hp / 245 kW) and 790 Nm (583 lb-ft) of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission can convey the momentum to two or four wheels, but if you opt for the TRD Pro package, AWD becomes a requirement.

The off-roader has independent suspension at the front end and a multilink design in the back. It strongly resembles the Tundra at the front and comes with a large radiator grille that changes design and pattern depending on your chosen spec. The TRD Pro mentioned above has a black grille with a hexagonal pattern, while the Capstone luxury spec sports a slightly smaller, chromed grille.

The trim levels are as follows: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone. All five benefit from the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 package, heated seats, a roof hatch, a 12.3-inch digital dash, and a panoramic view system.

Pricing details remain to be announced.
