This is what the Toyota Supra engine sounds like

As you probably know, the new Toyota Supra will debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January. In the meantime, the Japanese carmaker wants to give us an idea of what its engine sounds like. It’s the same engine as the one that comes with the BMW Z4, by the way.

The teaser video only allows us to see the general outlines of the car, but it’s hardly a problem given that we’ve already seen spy photos of the revived sports car series. On the whole, it looks more or less like the FT-1 Concept introduced at the Detriot show four years ago.

The engine bay of the new series will incorporate a 3.0-liter V6 engine rated at 340 hp (254 kW) and 500 Nm (370 lbft) of torque (valid for the European version). This should enable it to accelerate to 100 km/h (60 mph) in about 4.5 seconds. Transmission choices will include six- and eight-speed automatic.

Some say the Toyota Supra family may eventually expand to incorporate a new entry-level model with a 2.0L engine producing up to 260 hp (194 kW).
