The revived Toyota Supra series has celebrated its official premiere at the Detroit Motor Show in the United States.
Built by GAZOO Racing – the sports-oriented subdivision of Toyota – the new sports car is 4,381 mm (14.37 ft.) long, 1,854 mm (6.08 ft.) wide and 1,293 mm (4.24 ft.) tall with a wheelbase approaching 2,470 mm (8.10 ft.). It comes rear-driven by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 rated at 340 hp (254 kW) – actually, the same engine the BMW Z4 roadster comes with. It accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.1 seconds.
Tech-wise, there are two drive modes (normal and sports), launch control, adaptive suspension, and a rear diff lock. The car sports LED headlights, 19-inch wheels clad in pro-grade tires, Brembo performance brakes, a projection HUD, and an advanced infotainment system with a display spanning almost 9 inches diagonally.
In the United States, the base trim of the new Toyota Supra will launch priced at $49,990, with the top trim available for $58,905.
