BMW recalls defective Toyota Supras

Recall campaigns aren’t that rare of a phenomenon for most major car manufacturers. Calling in vehicles branded by other marques, now, that is a different story. Nevertheless, this is what BMW is currently doing with certain Toyota Supra coupes.

The German automaker discovered potential safety belt issues in seven recently produced sports cars. Apparently, the belt fastenings were welded incorrectly and could potentially result in additional injury during an accident.

Three cars out of the seven were already sold at the moment the issue was discovered. The company pledges to replace the whole car with a brand-new one if the examination confirms the deficiency.

For those wondering why it was BMW and not Toyota who announced the recall: the 2020 Supra was a joint project between the German company and its Japanese partner. Furthermore, the production takes place at the BMW Magna Steyr factory in Graz, Austria.
