Toyota comes out with the track-only GR Supra GT4

Toyota has introduced a racecar conversion of its Supra coupe, built specifically for participation in the GT4 series.

The GR Supra GT4 is fully compliant with the GT4 racing regulations and features a sizeable performance boost. Whereas its road-going counterpart normally produces 340 hp (254 kW) and 495 Nm (365 lb-ft) of torque, the track tool has 435 hp (324 kW) and 650 Nm (478 lb-ft) at its disposal. The engine is still the same inline-six, and the transmission is a seven-speed automatic one. Other highlights include a limited-slip differential, adjustable shock absorbers, Brembo brakes, 18-inch OZ wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires, and a different exhaust system. The ABS and traction control have been tweaked, and the curb weight dropped from 1,514 to just 1,350 kilograms (down from 3,338 to 2,976 lbs).

Inside, there is now a roll cage, a single bucket seat with a six-point safety harness, a carbon-trimmed dashboard, and a fire extinguishment system.

The acceleration specs remain unannounced, but the prices and sales launch date are already here. Customers in Europe will be able to pre-order their GR Supra GT4 starting from €175,000 in March 2020. The options list is fairly extensive and includes a revering camera, tire pressure control, and much more.

Everything indicates that Toyota will be releasing numerous other special editions of its new Supra.
