The fifth generation of Toyota Supra may share its tech and principal components with the BMW Z4 M40i, including the 3.0 I6 engine rated at 340 hp (254 kW), but it performed marginally faster at the Nürburgring.
Piloted by Christian Gebhart of Sport Auto, the A90 Supra finished the challenge in 7:52.17. The same pilot drove a Z4 M40i in September last year, finishing in 7:55.41.
That said, putting the Supra in the context of other cars driven by the Sport Auto crew on the North Loop, it runs behind the BMW M3 GTS, which made the loop in 7:48 way back in 2013. It is still faster than the BMW M2 Competition with its 7:52.36 last October.
A few months ago, the new Toyota Supra received a track modification to compete in the GT4 series. Later on, the company will be releasing performance versions of the road Supra, including the new flagship – Supra GRMN.
