Owners of the new A90 Toyota GR Supra may now opt for height-adjustable KW Clubsport springs. Isn’t the €2,599 asking price too much, though?
Long story short, not at all, as long as you are using your Supra for anything besides everyday urban driving. Lower, stiffer suspension is pretty much a requirement on any raceway where amateur races are held periodically. In Europe, this includes the Spa-Francorchamps, the Hockenheimring, the Sachsenring, and of course the dreaded North Loop, which puts your chassis to its ultimate test. The regular springs and most entry-level coilovers aren’t just not efficient enough, but also dangerous to use in extreme conditions, because they can break at higher speeds and cause an accident.
Unlike these, KW Clubsport boast Uniball strut mount bearings and dual bypass valves, which enables them to maintain the traction even on bumpy roads and when brushing the borders. The low-speed valve has 12 clicks of adjustment, while the high-speed valve has 16.
As far as the ride height is concerned, you can choose between 15 and 35 millimeters (0.6 – 1.4 inches) of lowering for the front axle and between 20 – 40 mm (0.8” – 1.6”) for the rear one.
As of right now, the kit is only compatible with the six-cylinder version of the Supra. Support for the four-cylinder, lighter A91 Supra will be added later.
