Video: This is what Ryan Tuerck’s shiny new drift Supra looks and sounds like

For the whole past year, Ryan Tuerck’s team built an ultimate drift car for him from a stock A90 Supra and a lightweight V10 engine. The project is now complete, and we can finally enjoy a few videos showing the car in action.

Interestingly enough, many professional drift racers have picked the A90 Supra as their new ride of choice, but almost no one left the boring BMW inline-six as is. This project is no exception: power now comes from a 4.0-liter V10 mill rated at 740 PS (730 hp / 544 kW) or thereabouts. The block weighs mere 145 kilos (320 lbs), which is remarkably light for its class and power level.

Fitting the new engine in the bay of the Supra proved a serious challenge, but the resulting dynamic performance exceeded expectations. Furthermore, the car began to sound like a veritable Formula track weapon. Watch both videos with headphones to get the best idea.

Elsewhere, the one-off build makes use of carbon-fiber bodywork and a new suspension system designed with steering lock as the top priority.
