Toyota’s Gazoo Racing subdivision is working on a performance-oriented version of the A90 Supra, and rumor has it that the model runs on the BMW S58 inline six-cylinder turbo boosted beyond its factory spec.
The report comes from Sputnik7 citing inside sources. We are told that the GRMN Supra will go on sale in early 2023 with 540 PS (533 hp / 397 kW) under its hood. The engine currently maxes out at 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) on the BMW M4 Competition coupe, but the upcoming M4 CSL may or may not push it to 540 PS.
The GRMN Supra will use a seven-speed DCT gearbox to send the power to the wheels. Like the BMW M3 and M4, the Japanese sports car will probably be RWD in its more affordable variants, so you would have to pay extra for all-wheel drive.
In addition to the above, the car will debut with a redesigned aerodynamic kit incorporating a hood with large air intake and a modernized front bumper in its most basic form. We can imagine carbon-fiber roof and rear wing being available as paid options. Prices are expected to start from 10,000,000 JPY (a touch above $80,000 USD).
