If you happen to be a fan of the Gran Turismo video game series, you probably remember just how good JDM badges were in the earlier instalments. After all, the game was developed and published by Japanese companies in the nineties, when JDM cars were all the rage among tuning and motorsports fans.
Carwow must also be feeling nostalgic, because their latest video pits together seven vehicles that starred in Gran Turismo 2. The list opens with a Honda NSX armed with a 3.0-liter V6 and 275 PS (271 hp / 202 kW). Standing next to it is a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 V-Spec packing 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW). Then there is the gorgeous Mazda RX-7 Type RS with its 1.3-liter twin-turbocharged Wankel engine producing the same 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW).
Standing next in line is another Nissan, a Silvia S15 packing a turbo-four mill and 250 PS (246 hp / 183 kW). It is accompanied by an A80 Toyota Supra powered by 285 PS (281 hp / 210 kW) from its 3.0-liter inline six-pot.
The Toyota is not alone, as there is another one with 2.5 liters of displacement, six cylinders and 280 PS. Rounding off the Big JDM Seven is a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI Tommi Makinen Edition, which also makes 280 PS like most of its rivals.
All cars present have manual transmission. Watch and see how these icons perform by today’s standards!
