First photos showing a new Toyota Supra Racing concept vehicle – meant as a rebirth of the popular series-produced sports car of the same name – have been published online. The car should debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Looking at the pictures provided, one can’t help remembering the FT-1 prototype demonstrated by Toyota as early as 2014. The newcomer sports a body kit that looks much, much cooler, though. It also has unusual yellow-tinted headlights, low road clearance and a set of professional racing wheels clad in high-performance tires.
The new series-produced Toyota Supra Racing model will be assembled on a platform already familiar to us because of the third-generation BMW Z4. It is expected to come with two 2.0L V4 turbo engines with 200 and 250 hp to choose from. A high-end version with a 3.0L V6 rated at 340 hp should be made available as well.
The company also plans on releasing a Toyota Supra hybrid consisting of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a couple of electric motors (one per axis).
