Tetsuya Tada, leader of the official Toyota Supra revival project, said the company won’t be offering manual transmission in their model lineup. He went on to explain that the exceedingly high engine torque that all new Supra cars come with would complicate gear switching in manual mode.
The Toyota Supra concept vehicle debuted at this year’s Geneva International Motor Show. A number of body parts of the resurrected car model are made of carbon for maximum weight reduction.
In its top trim version, the new Toyota Supra should get a three-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine with 450 hp (335 kW) or so. Other models are expected to get turbocharged V4s rated at between 200 and 250 hp (150-187 kW).
