A racecar based on the resurrected Toyota Supra series will take part in the NASCAR race in 2019, the company said in an official statement. The series is meant to become the eventual replacement for the Toyota Camry.
Reportedly, the Japanese racecar will look much like its street-legal counterpart, which will premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month.
Information is a bit scarce right now, but we know that the vehicle will get a 5.8-liter V8 engine. No performance data has been revealed so far.
The Toyota Supra production car will become the brand’s new flagship coupe, occupying a market niche above the GT86. It will also be based on a brand-new architecture German and Japanese engineers spent years to develop and perfect.
The production-issue Toyota Supra will most likely ship with a choice between a 2.0-liter turbo engine capable of 245 hp (183 kW) and a superior V6 engine with 330 hp (246 kW). All Supra engines are manufactured by BMW.
