Toyota reveals development cost of the Supra GR Racing Concept

According to a recent press release by Toyota, the company has spent U.S. $2,000,000 to build the most expensive vehicle in the Supra family, the Supra GR Racing Concept.

The prototype car is not for sale, though, and serves as a proof of concept and a demonstration of the manufacturer’s potential.

The Supra GR Racing Concept originally debuted earlier this year at the Geneva International Motor Show, featuring all-carbon bodywork and aerodynamic kit. Back then, the company declined comment on whether the unique vehicle would be put up for sale later.

The sport subdivision of Toyota later debuted a pre-production version of street-legal Supra. The manufacturer said the vehicle would ship with a 265 hp / 200 kW strong engine in its base version. A higher-end variant will be available with a 3.0-liter V6 rated at 340 hp (255 kW) and 500 Nm (370 lb·ft) of torque. This should mean acceleration to 100 km/h (60 mph) in around 4.5 seconds.
