14-year-old Toyota Tacoma camper truck fetches $36.5k

Practical pickups like the Toyota Tacoma often wind up with all sorts of equipment in their beds, but this particular example is a rather cleverly designed camper.

The 2007 Tacoma features a robust aftermarket front bumper, higher ground clearance, a Superwinch winch, some added lighting and a massive living module. The latter holds dedicated tanks for propane, gasoline and fresh water and houses a mini-kitchen, a fridge, a tent and a roof tent with a ladder for easy access. An outdoor shower is tucked into the engine bay.

The interior of the cab may look barely more comfortable than a camping tent, but looks are deceptive. In reality, there is an AC on board along with a radio, a six-channel sound system and other modern niceties. Cruise control is also present.

The four-liter six-pot udner the hood still churns out its usual 239 PS (236 hp / 176 kW) and 361 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels. The suspension enjoys major upgrades, so going off-road is definitely an option with this Tacoma.

Despite having nearly 60,000 kilometers (36,500 miles) on the counter, the truck found a new owner a couple of days ago who happily paid U.S. $36,500 for it.
