Toyota has pretty much explicitly stated that the next-generation Tacoma truck will offer manual transmission as an option: check out the official pic in the header. It also looks like the full reveal is right around the corner now.
In the United States, the Tacoma used to be available with a manual gearbox and an A/T, but the former option dropped out of production not long ago. Some of us had suspected it might have left never to return, but the new teaser photo dispels any doubt that manual will continue to be available.
According to rumors and unofficial sources, the truck will no longer ship with its old 3.5-liter V6, instead getting a 2.4-liter four-pot turbo in its base spec with 265 PS (261 hp / 195 kW). The range-topping modification will allegedly be a hybrid rated above 300 horsepower (225 kilowatts).
