Toyota shows two uncladded Tacoma trucks

Toyota USA has shared another (and likely final) teaser of the next-gen Tacoma. The image provides a top-down view on two trucks and lacks any discernible details. At any rate, the premiere is tomorrow – May 19.

The pickups stand on rocky terrain, prompting the assumption that the Tacoma models shown are Trailhunter and TRD Pro off-road specs. The automaker announced both a while ago.

The TRD Pro shapes up to be the ultimate spec. A leaked image of a Tacoma TRD cropped up online a few days ago, revealing its black hood scoop and white exterior. The white example in the teaser matches that description perfectly. In all likelihood, the Tacoma TRD will ship with a hybrid powertrain called i-Pro Max, like the Tundra TRD Pro before it.

As for the Trailhunter spec, it will come preloaded with ARB aftermarket components and target active leisure and travel enthusiasts, rather than people interested in extreme off-roading.

Buyers will be able to choose between manual and automatic transmission, a fact that Toyota admitted in one of its earlier teasers by showing a manual gearbox.
