This Toyota Tacoma electromod could be yours for cheap

A car enthusiast from the USA posted an all-electric 2002 Toyota Tacoma on sale on Cars&Bids. Last time we checked, the bidding hovered at a low $4,500.

The tuner removed the original engine and put a rear-axle motor from a Tesla Model 3 Performance in its place. He also sourced Tesla brakes for the rear wheels and Cadillac brakes for the front ones.

The battery capacity is not specified, but the listing points out that it should be enough for 241—281 km (150–175 miles) of range. More interestingly, the elderly truck now reaches 97 km/h (60 mph) in four or five seconds – almost twice as fast as the original.

A cursory glance at the project reveals a solid job: the charging port sits neatly behind the fuel tank door, the interior boasts a new digital head unit, and the gears are selected with buttons on the console. The mismatched wheels are our only major gripe. That, and the unknown total mileage.
